People with vision loss can register for the OXSIGHT smart glasses trial


PEOPLE in Oxford who suffer from central vision loss have the opportunity to test technologically advanced “smart glasses” that can reverse sight loss.

Free trials are held in the city every Wednesday in September by Oxford start-up OXSIGHT.

The company has developed smart glasses called OXSIGHT Onyx that are expected to help 80% of the two million people in the UK who suffer from central vision loss, often caused by macular conditions, such as eye-related macular degeneration. age (AMD).

In the Oxford area, around more than 1,000 residents have moderate or severe vision loss due to AMD, and more than 4,000 – around 12% of the local population – are at increased risk of disease.
